The Story of Cold Creek Cowboy Church

In October of 2011, The vision for a cowboy church was planted in the heart and mind of Pastor Mark Hatcher (pastor of Highway Church of the Nazarene in Ava, MO). While at a church planting conference in Marshall, Texas his heart began to be stirred as to the great impact a cowoby church could have on people's lives, especially men, in southwest Missouri. In September of 2012, Pastor Mark along with three other men attended a Cowboy Church University in Pueblo, CO. It was here that the dream of a cowboy church really began to grow and spread like wildfire. After many months of praying and discussing, the leaders of Highway Church of the Nazarene met on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at the Douglas Country Livestock Auction (which would eventually become the first home of the new church) and voted unanimously to begin this new work!

A vision team was formed who had the dream of a church where you could truly "come just as you are!" The desire was to plant a church that wasn't focused on man-made rules, rituals and things like what kind of clothes you wear, but on the simple, down to earth Good News of God's word, and the miracle of what happens when we come to personally know the God who accepts us just as we are, yet loves us way to much to leave us that way!

We can't wait to see what God has in store next and we invite ya'll to join us on this adventure!
